Situation

Client Corporate Investment and Tax business unit must manage the corporate investment portfolio and provide all tax, regulatory and compliance reporting requirements based upon local, state, and federal requirements. These investment portfolios and associated reports were being managed with an on-premises Microsoft Access database. The current solution leveraged a technology platform that is 15+ years old, was becoming more difficult to support and maintain, and would not scale with the business. The Corporate Tax team was experiencing declining productivity and timeliness in meeting local, state, and federal reporting timelines and requirements.

Solution 

The Client is committed to the M365 platform for employee communication and collaboration. Microsoft completed an initial analysis of the current Access-based solution and recommended modernizing the current solution leveraging the M365 Power Platform. The Client then selected Threewill to help modernize and move the Corporate Tax application from Microsoft Access to the Power Platform in M365. The solution included the development and deployment of a Power App canvas application, global navigation component, data-driven lists, and tables, with automated business logic. In addition, all reporting was implemented as Excel Exports. Exports for this application mean pixel-perfect reports generated for direct collaboration in Excel. Data is collected via Power Automate and passed to Excel Scripts, which renders out a finished reporting product.
