How EOS and Core Processes Let Me Unplug for Two Weeks

This year, the Holland family had the incredible opportunity to explore the great state of Alaska.

We hiked through Denali, fished in Cooper Landing, and cruised past glaciers in Kenai Fjords. We visited Glacier Bay, Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan, and more — soaking up the kind of beauty and stillness that forces you to slow down.

Oh – my son had fend off a bald eagle during our 4th of July fishing trip while we were in Cooper Landing. I managed to get it on video, which I’ve shared below.

BE WARNED
– there’s some salty language – but that’s what happens when you surprise a sailor.

But here’s what allowed the trip to be even more special: I was able to fully unplug from work for two whole weeks.

That didn’t happen by accident. It happened because we run on EOS.

Before I left, I followed my documented Marketing Core Process — a checklist I’d already created for times like this. My blogs and social posts were scheduled. The tasks that still required a human hand? I walked through those with my back-up (thanks Tommy!) on a recorded Teams meeting. No guessing. No last-minute scrambling. No “did I forget something?” panic.

That’s the beauty of having your processes documented. It’s not just about consistency — it’s about freedom. I didn’t have to spend time remembering what to do or reinventing a handoff. I just followed the process, and my team did too.

When I walked out the door for the airport, my mind was busy with all the usual travel questions: Did I pack the right layers? Will the kids behave on the plane? Did I bring my laptop charger? (Answer key: Mostly. Yes. And… nope.)

But one thing I didn’t worry about was work.

We know how our business runs. And because we’ve taken the time to document the way, I was free to go live mine.

The ‘Why’ Behind the ‘Will’

For me – that’s ultimately what I care about. I want to be able to enjoy my life – both in the office and out in the wild. And I think everyone should be able to hope for that.

It’s why I work here. It’s why we preach and praise EOS. It’s why we wrote The ThreeWill Way – our free guide to systemizing your operations by aligning Microsoft 365 technology to your core processes.

But I don’t want to just hope you’re happy – I want to help you spend your time on what matters most to you. I want you to be able to step away — whether it’s for a week or forever — knowing your team has everything they need to succeed without you.

Getting here is not easy an easy journey – but once you’re sitting on the beach, watching the sunset, and you realize you haven’t had to worry about work in over a week – you’ll feel just how worth it it really is.

If you want to talk more about Alaska, EOS, or technology – I’d love to connect with you on LinkedIn. Use this link and send me a connection request!

And if you’re ready to start working on your business, not just in it, congratulations — that’s the first step. Your next step is to hit the button below and schedule a discovery call. We’ll talk about your goals and how we help teams like yours align Microsoft 365 to the way your business actually works.
