How We Got to the Finish Line

We’ve got an answer that works.

Here’s the backstory: Our background has been more focused on Application Development, not Infrastructure.  Being a good Microsoft partner, in the past we would often refer SharePoint migration projects to other partners that we trust.  What we found is that many of these migrations would get stalled because the migration wasn’t a simple backup and restore.  If a migration tool was involved, once it didn’t work for some scenarios things would get stalled.  We came to find out that we could address these scenarios because of our knowledge of Application Development combined with our SharePoint expertise.

We moved to SharePoint Online from Jive in 2009.  We also had an on-prem version of SharePoint on a old server in a closet (sound familiar?) and we made the decision to consolidate.  We made the move to SharePoint online and have been there ever since.

Nowadays, we’re working directly with clients to make the final move to SharePoint online.  We’ve partnered with Metalogix to address even the most complex migrations (our clients have had us evaluate tools and Metalogix showed up on top of the list every time).

Some of the reasons you should work with our team on this initiative is:

The workshop will cover a detailed review of the migration process.  From this review, we identify key decisions that you will need to make related to the migration. We will a) review the current state of both any applicable legacy environments, b) review the requirements and drivers for migration to SharePoint 2016 and/or SharePoint online, and c) determine the requirements and desired state of SharePoint 2016 / SharePoint online once the migration is completed. Lastly, this workshop will feed into set the high-level level roadmap, with the supporting approach, estimate and initial project plan for the migration.

The cost for the two-day workshop is a fixed price of $7,500 USD.

No, you are free to do the migration with another consulting firm or internally.

A typical migration has a pilot migration and a production migration. The amount of time depends on the amount of content.

Typical costs range from about $25,000 USD for smaller migrations to over $300,000 for larger and more complex migrations. We have been focusing on helping customers with larger SharePoint communities that have a lot of intellectual property stored on SharePoint.

We use SCRUM (read this article – Using SCRUM on Migration Projects) and set our clients up with a Client Extranet Site (on Office 365, of course ;).

It’s pretty common for us to help customers soften the edges of SharePoint and make it more familiar to end users. Also, it’s pretty common for us to set up a Sustainment Agreement to support future needs.
